Many people inquire, worried if large tattoos covering the entire back or arm can be removed. The question is whether it's impossible if the area is too wide.
To get straight to the point, it is possible. However, the preparation is a little different.

The principle is the same regardless of size
The basic principle of tattoo removal is this: the tattoo ink penetrated into the skin is broken down into tiny pieces by a laser, and then macrophages in the body consume these fragments, causing the tattoo to fade.
This principle applies equally to mini tattoos and large tattoos. What changes is the area to be treated and the total amount of ink.

Conditions that change for large tattoos
It may take more time and cost compared to general tattoos. The available treatment methods are as follows:
- Nd:YAG Tattoo Removal
- Pico-Frectat
- R-Zero Tattoo Removal
Among these, the R-Zero method can irradiate the laser up to 4 times in one session, which may be more advantageous for larger areas.

A structure that allows four times at once
The reason why the R-Zero treatment method can irradiate four times at once is clear. This is because it proceeds by removing white bubbles that interfere with laser penetration using a specialized medication.
| Condition | General Method | R-Zero Method |
|---|---|---|
| Irradiations per visit | 1 time | Up to 4 times |
| Progress in large areas | Increased number of visits | Expected reduction in removal sessions |
| Bubble treatment | No separate treatment | Removed with specialized medication |
The treatment composition is summarized in the R-Zero Pico-Frectat Tattoo Removal guide, and other types of methods are organized in the Nd:YAG Tattoo Removal guide.

What to be prepared for before starting
If you have decided to remove a large tattoo, there is something you must know. It is the fact that it will inevitably take longer than other tattoos.
What is most important is to receive treatment patiently and persistently.
Rather than expecting noticeable changes with a single session, it is better to approach it from the perspective of accumulating sessions.
Consultation to plan together
It helps to first discuss and finalize the total number of sessions, intervals, and whether to proceed by dividing the area with a dermatologist experienced in tattoo removal. There may be individual differences in the time required and the results.
