[ Yonsei Star Dermatology Sinchon ] Introduction of the Latest Vascular Laser 'Vbeam Prima'

Vbeam Prima, a dual-wavelength vascular laser used for vascular redness and facial flushing, targets enlarged blood vessels. We've summarized its principles and new features.

Many people are concerned about frequent facial redness or red marks that linger long after acne has subsided. This redness can be bothersome as it quickly shows through makeup. If the issue isn't surface pigmentation but abnormally enlarged blood vessels beneath the skin, then general whitening or calming care alone has its limits.

Yonsei Star Dermatology Sinchon has introduced the latest vascular laser, Vbeam Prima, which is used for vascular concerns such as red scars, facial redness, and red marks from inflammatory acne.

Why doesn't facial redness disappear easily?

Facial redness, red scars, or what is commonly called 'redness,' is a condition where blood vessels beneath the skin abnormally expand, and their color shows through the skin's surface. Since the enlarged blood vessels themselves are the cause, the approach differs from methods that treat epidermal keratin or pigment.

In the clinic, we often see cases where people mistake redness for simple trouble and use calming cosmetics for too long, missing the optimal treatment time. Vascular lasers, which directly target enlarged blood vessels, are devices designed to treat this type of vascular redness.

What is the Vbeam Prima vascular laser?

Vbeam Prima is a vascular laser designed to deliver light energy to abnormally expanded blood vessels, causing them to constrict and be destroyed. It targets enlarged blood vessels that cause facial redness, red scars, and other forms of redness.

Vbeam Prima is the successor to the previous model, V-Beam Perfecta, with several improvements in wavelength, output, and cooling system. So, what has changed compared to the previous model?

Expanded Treatment Range with Dual Wavelengths

The biggest change in Vbeam Prima is its wavelength configuration. The existing 595nm wavelength has been supplemented with a 1064nm wavelength, allowing for the treatment of blood vessels at various depths, from red to blue.

With a dual wavelength configuration of 595nm and 1064nm, it is designed to broadly target blood vessels of different depths, including blue vessels and venous lakes.

A key feature is that since wavelengths are absorbed differently depending on depth, it can address both superficial redness and relatively deeper blue blood vessels simultaneously.

Faster and More Powerful Output

The spot size and energy output have also been enhanced. Below is a summary of the improved specifications compared to the previous model.

With the maximum spot size increasing from 12mm to 15mm, larger areas can be treated more quickly, and the maximum energy has also increased from 8J to 12J, allowing for more powerful output. The degree of effectiveness and appropriate output may vary depending on skin condition, so individual differences may occur.

Cooling System to Reduce Skin Damage

Epidermal protection is an indispensable part of laser treatment. Vbeam Prima incorporates an enhanced Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD), patented by Candela.

This cooling system is designed to cool the skin surface the moment the laser is emitted, helping to reduce epidermal damage even when using strong energy.

The following cases are suitable for treatment with Vbeam Prima:

  • If your face easily flushes due to facial redness
  • If red acne scars or marks linger for a long time
  • Redness where enlarged blood vessels are visible
  • Redness accompanying inflammatory acne

If redness recurs along with acne, considering a combination of vascular laser and acne treatment may be helpful. It is best to determine the right combination after directly assessing your skin condition.

Things to Know Before Treatment

Vascular laser treatment varies in method and number of sessions depending on skin condition and the cause of redness. After treatment, the following reactions may occur depending on individual characteristics:

  • Temporary swelling or redness
  • Partial scabbing or peeling
  • Skin that is sensitive to irritation

These reactions often subside over time, but the degree and recovery pattern may vary individually. We recommend receiving thorough guidance on pre- and post-treatment precautions and care methods during your consultation.

If you have persistent redness like facial flushing or red scars, the first step is to determine if it is vascular in nature.
