Scars are the most common concern during tattoo removal. It would be problematic if another mark remained after removal.
Today, we've outlined where scars can form and the steps taken to reduce that likelihood.
How Scars Form
To remove a tattoo, a laser is used on the area. Scars may form during the process where the pigment in the skin is destroyed.
- Laser is applied
- In severe cases, the skin may be damaged
- Blisters may form after the procedure
- That area can sometimes lead to scarring

What Comes with Increasing Power
If the laser power is set too high to increase removal effectiveness, the pigment reaction will also be stronger. This creates conditions where scars can remain.
Therefore, it is paramount that a dermatologist handles the appropriate laser for each individual's skin condition. You can compare the characteristics of each device in R-Zero Pico-Frectat Tattoo Removal and Nd:YAG Tattoo Removal.

White Bubbles Blocking Laser Penetration
When tattoos were removed using conventional methods, white bubbles would form. These bubbles blocked laser penetration, allowing only one pass per visit.

The method used at our clinic to reduce scarring is the R-Zero Pinhole Technique.

The Point Where the Number of Passes Changes
R-Zero uses a specialized medication to eliminate the white bubbles that obstruct laser penetration. Thanks to this, up to four passes can be performed in a single visit.
| Item | Conventional Method | R-Zero |
|---|---|---|
| White Bubbles | Remain and block penetration | Removed with specialized medication |
| Possible Passes per Visit | 1 time | 4 times |
This approach expands the scope of treatment without excessively increasing intensity.

Micro-Holes Create an Exit Pathway
In addition, the Pinhole Technique is used. The Pinhole Technique is a method that creates precise, micro-holes deep in the skin to help prevent scarring.
This pathway allows tattoo pigment to exit more easily, thereby reducing the likelihood of scarring. A description of the method itself can be found in Pinhole for Burn & Surgical Scar.

When Two Steps Are Used Together
The R-Zero Pinhole Technique is a method designed to reduce the burden of scarring and accelerate the removal process. Individual results and recovery progress may vary.
