Treatment of hesitation marks on the forearm by the pinhole method

This is a retrospective study evaluating the efficacy and safety of treating self-inflicted scars (hesitation marks) primarily on the forearms with CO2 laser Pinhole for Burn & Surgical Scar. From March 2010 to April 2014, 11 patients (average age 37.8 years) who received Pinhole for Burn & Surgical Scar treatment for self-inflicted forearm scars were included. Pinhole for Burn & Surgical Scar using a 10,600nm CO2 laser was performed 1 to 6 times at 4 to 8-week intervals. Two blinded evaluators compared photographs taken before treatment and 3 months after the final treatment using a 4-point scale. All patients showed mild to moderate improvement, and patient satisfaction surveys revealed an average improvement score of 2.82 points. The researchers concluded that CO2 laser Pinhole for Burn & Surgical Scar could be an effective treatment option for patients with self-inflicted forearm scars.
