This study proposes a modified technique for treating atrophic Scars, especially Acne Scars, by applying the concept of chemical reconstruction of skin scars (CROSS) and increasing the pulse energy of a 10,600-nm carbon dioxide (CO2) Fractional Laser system for localized irradiation of the Scar. Unlike the CROSS technique, which involves deep application of high-concentration trichloroacetic acid to the Scar area, this technique reconstructs the Scar by targeted irradiation of the Scar with a CO2 Fractional Laser. The authors described this targeted laser Scar reconstruction technique as being simple and widely applicable to various types of atrophic Scars. This paper is a short-form report published in the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy (2012).
