Laser-induced acoustic shockwave treatment using a diamond particle patch for rolling acne scars: a case series

A case series evaluating the clinical efficacy and safety of laser-induced acoustic shockwave treatment using a diamond particle patch for rolling acne scars. Three patients with rolling acne scars were treated by applying a diamond particle patch to the treatment area and irradiating it with a Q-switched 1,064-nm Nd:YAG laser (5-mm spot, 2.0-4.0 J/cm2 fluence, 5 Hz), generating acoustic shockwaves in a non-invasive, non-thermal manner to mechanically release fibrotic dermal tethering. After one or two sessions, all patients showed visible improvement in scar depth and overall skin texture with high satisfaction; adverse effects were limited to transient erythema and edema resolving within 24 hours, with no pigmentary changes or serious complications. The authors conclude that diamond particle patch-mediated acoustic shockwave treatment may be a feasible non-invasive option for rolling acne scars.
