Effective treatment of ear keloids using CO2 laser-assisted debulking combined with topical mitomycin C application

This is a retrospective study evaluating the efficacy and safety of combined carbon dioxide (CO2) laser debulking and topical mitomycin C (MC) for ear Keloid. For 16 cases of ear Keloid, lesions were excised with a CO2 laser, after which mitomycin C (1mg/ml) was applied to the excision site for 5 minutes. Size reduction rate, recurrence, and complications were evaluated 3 months after the procedure. All lesions showed more than 80% size reduction, no signs of recurrence were observed at the 3-month follow-up, and no significant differences in treatment outcomes were observed based on the anatomical location or past treatment history of the Keloid. The researchers reported that combined CO2 laser and topical mitomycin C therapy could be a treatment option showing favorable results.
