Who Decides Which Wavelength Your Brow Ink Needs

Unlike what it seems, eyebrow tattoos are a mixture of various pigments. The judgment in reading the pigment, depth, and quantity, and choosing the wavelength, determines the outcome.

Eyebrow tattoos, which reduce makeup time and change one's impression, are now received by people of all ages and genders.

It's easy to think that semi-permanent tattoos last shorter than regular tattoos, but many people seek removal because the color fades to red, becomes patchy, or they dislike the shape. We've summarized what you should consider when choosing a clinic.

Pigment Composition Different from Appearance

Unlike what appears on the surface, eyebrow tattoos are a mixture of various pigments. Therefore, when choosing a clinic, you should look for one that uses lasers with diverse wavelengths.

Our clinic uses the PicoWay Laser. This is because it has four wavelengths, allowing us to select the appropriate wavelength for the tattoo pigment and remove it.

WavelengthResponding Pigment
532nmRed, Orange
730nmBlue, Purple
785nmSky Blue, Green
1064nmBlack, Brown

With four possible wavelengths, it is known to be effective for removing color tattoos in addition to eyebrow tattoos. The equipment configuration is summarized in the R-Zero Pico-Frectat Tattoo Removal guide.

Who Makes the Judgment to Choose the Wavelength?

This is why you should visit a hospital, not a shop. Dermatology specialists have a deep understanding of the structure and function of the skin, and possess extensive experience and know-how in numerous tattoo removal procedures.

It is necessary to consider the tattoo pigment, its depth, and quantity together to select the appropriate wavelength, which enables removal without leaving scars.

Yonsei Star Dermatology Sinchon performs procedures directly by dermatology specialists. Based on over 20 years of experience, we provide personalized removal.

Even Semi-Permanent Tattoos Require Multiple Sessions

Semi-permanent tattoos do not necessarily mean a short number of removal sessions and duration. Except for cases where only residual traces remain, you usually need to visit 3 to 5 or more times. Individual results may vary.

What Enables Repeated Irradiation Around the Thin Eye Area

The core of tattoo removal lies in breaking down the pigment into fine particles, and irradiating the laser multiple times can enhance the effect. However, after one irradiation, a white bubble layer forms on top, hindering additional irradiation.

Yonsei Star Dermatology Sinchon addresses this issue as follows:

  • PFD specialized medication quickly removes the bubble layer.
  • Repeated procedures can be performed up to 4 times without straining the thin skin around the eyes.
  • This can shorten the semi-permanent tattoo removal period.
