Dr. Sang Ju Lee presented on the treatment of non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) scars and suicide-attempt scars at the 22nd Daegyeong Dermatologic Therapy Conference, one of the four major conferences of the Korean Dermatologists' Association.
He compared past surgical approaches with current laser treatment, and introduced a laser-based approach to wrist self-harm scars based on his pinhole-method paper published in Lasers in Medical Science in 2016. He also noted that cover-up tattoos can make subsequent treatment more difficult.
